July Events

Oneida Narrows Festival, July 12th, 11am-7pm

Riverdale Campground, five miles northeast of Preston, Idaho, on the Bear River. . . .

Bring your river-poems, essays, and stories to read at the open microphone. Sign up in advance by replying to star.coulbrooke@usu.edu or sign up at the festival.

Organizers invite you to bring your literary work and speak in behalf of the free-flowing Bear River through the Oneida Narrows, a popular area for tubing, boating, fishing, camping, and hiking. This beautiful, rugged area is threatened by a proposed dam, which would inundate 4.5 miles of the canyon, from Red Point to Cave Mountain. Please come, even if you don’t bring readings, and tell everyone you know to come support the free-flowing Bear River through the Oneida Narrows canyon. Donations of time and/or money are welcome.

To find the Riverdale Campground, take highway 34 northeast from the Preston Burger King. Drive approximately five miles to the junction of 34/36, just across the Bear River bridge. Turn onto highway 36 (Montpelier/BearLake). The campground is on your immediate right, in a grove of cottonwood trees.

Come listen to music and readings, float the river, and join activites to raise awareness for the latest dam proposal on the free-flowing Bear through the Oneida Narrows. Speak out to save our rivers! For more information, contact Star at e-mail address above or at (435) 563-3158.
