Library Calls for Poetry Submissions

Poems will be displayed in April for National Poetry Month!

Pocatello's Marshall Public Library invites all local poets to submit one original poem or one page of original poetry for inclusion in the library's 11th Annual Poetry Wall.

The poetry will be displayed throughout April in celebration of National Poetry Month. All entries will become property of Marshall Public Library and are added to the Library collection. Please mail or bring your work to the following address:

Update on Rocky Mountain Writers' Festival!

Wednesday, March 9th: Rocky Mountain Writers’ Festival: Opening Night. Host Cathy Peppers. Local writers, poets, and songwriters will share their work at Portneuf Valley Brewing, 615 S. 1st Avenue, at 7pm.

Thursday, March 10th: Rocky Mountain Writers’ Festival: University Night. Host Carlen Donovan. Local writers and poets will share their work at the College Market, 604 S. 8th Street, at 7pm.

Friday, March 11th: The Rocky Mountain Writers’ Festival presents Karen Joy Fowler. The best-selling author of novels such as The Jane Austen Book Club will read a selection of her work at The Bengal Café in ISU’s Student Union Building at 7pm. Admission is free. Sponsored by the Idaho Humanities Council, ISU’s Cultural Affairs Council, and ISU’s Department of English and Philosophy.

Friday, March 11th: Rocky Mountain Writers’ Festival: Karen Joy Fowler and Brian Attebery Colloquium “Combining History with Fantasy: The New Historical Narrative”: Fowler, best-selling fiction writer, will discuss the new historical narrative with award-winning humanities scholar Brian Attebery in the Middle Fork Room of ISU’s Student Union Building at 1:30pm. Sponsored by the Idaho Humanities Council, ISU’s Cultural Affairs Council, and ISU’s Department of English and Philosophy.

Friday March 11th: Rocky Mountain Writers’ Festival Book Fair, featuring local and regional writers and publishers, will be held in the Bengal Café of ISU’s Student Union Building from 4-6:30pm. Entertainment and refreshments will be sponsored by ISU’s student literary journal, Black Rock and Sage.

Saturday, March 12th: Rocky Mountain Writers’ Festival Closing Night. Host Leslie Leek. Local writers, poets, and songwriters will share their works in conversation at The Warehouse, 1009 S. 2nd Avenue, at 7pm. Audience participation encouraged: Bring a poem in your pocket, whether it’s an original or a favorite.
